Welcome and Happy New Year 2017!

Well, life since becoming a single mum has been interesting to say the least haha, especially when my eldest son Thomas Ray decided to continue following an acting career path after his GCSEs 3 years ago. As he was under 18, I had to chaperone Tom around various castings and was somewhat taken aback when his then agent, Steve Robins said that a music video he was casting for was in urgent need of someone my age and with my image?? Laughing, I agreed with Steve to put me forward and before I knew it, 2 days later I was on set cast as the lead model/actress in a music video (photo), acting out my young girl dream of strutting as a model like Christie Brinkley did in the music video Uptown Girl, only I had no idea the Director wanted me in a Bikini!!! My son Tom came on set with me for the experience and was cast himself in a party scene. Almost 3 years later, here I am, single mum of 3 appearing in films, on stage and debating on a live day time show. Its been hard work but so enjoyable and quite surreal. Also, as a single mother its not easy getting out and about so what I've mostly gained from the Performing Arts industry is meeting some amazing people, whether cast, crew, production, runners, agents.....so many wonderful people. Being a single mum isn't so bad and my children love seeing their mum on tv or stage. I had no idea that what I've experienced and achieved since 2014 was possible, especially at my age and upon hearing recently of the sad loss of the actress Liz Smith (aka Betty Gleadle known for The Royle Family), she didn't get her first calling as an Actress until the age of 49! The latest Bond Girl/Woman was 50 years old so all this in mind, it shows anything is possible - I now aspire to be the next middle age Bond Girl haha. So, as the new year starts, I look forward to new opportunities and the many privileges the Performing Arts world may offer me and in particular, for my son Thomas Ray. Watch this space.............xx
