2019-My 50th Year Work & Health Secrets! #Fabat50

What a journey life is! "I'm not gonna lie" (as seems to be the opening 'saying' by people these days) that the first 50 years of my life haven't been easy with lots of bumps and hurdles to cross and uncertainties; often hard work and not without heart-brake. However, the years have been a great learning experience that I've been able to pass to my children and help them enter adulthood full of knowledge and confidence. For me personally, now I'm reaching the half way mark known as middle-age, I find instead of having a mid-life crisis, I've reached an amazing calm! Through age-defying inherited genetics from both my parents, I'm ever so thankful that the ageing process has been very kind to me although, I'm told, it's all down hill from 50 haha, so perhaps I'm in for a shock. Owing to this, I don't take my good health for granted and do look after myself with light, regular exercise and healthy food. I make sure I take care not to drink too much alcohol (socially only, so not often - boohoo), I've never smoked and I take 10 mins light exercise every day. It probably helps that I have two flights of stairs at home too! I rarely eat fast food and I make sure to drink water first thing after I get up and drink several glasses through the day. I cut out added sugar a few years ago when it was discovered how much of a poison it is to our bodies; also because my father was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and I know this was owing to his unhealthy lifestyle (for which at 81 years old, my father has now virtually cured himself with daily walks and careful diet - his medication has been reduced considerably!). I also ensure to eat oily fish at least once a week to keep my brain and skin as healthy as possible. Full-fat milk and butter is a must to keep the fatty acids around cells safe from harm. I always eat a fibrous breakfast but with the full fat milk. Add the peace, calm and confidence I've reached this year, I'm looking forward to enjoying the next 50yrs and all the adventures they will bring.

2019 has already been productive with my actor son Tom referring me for a small scene in the feature film RIA, currently in post-production. It stars Luke Goss as Lead with Sinitta and Dean Cain. A few weeks later, having met and worked with the Producer and Director of RIA, I received a phone call with a pre-casting offer for his next filming project. This is not only exciting, but very flattering. I've already received the first draft script to read. Watch this space!

Meanwhile, having been model touted at a function in London at the end of 2018, I took part in the Collectively Creative Collection Fashion Show for Blades and Beauty and Dragon Lady Productions/Aleah Leigh Designs - wearing a gown and matching lingerie from the Rose Collection during Belfast Fashion Week 2019. It was amazing to be on the Catwalk and an equally amazing entrance to my 50th year. Click on the Modelling tab for video footage and more images.
